I learned how to become a better teacher by watching, listening, and questioning other teachers for over thirty years. Now that I am retired, it's my turn to pass on my strategies, philosophies, successes, and failures to others who may learn from my experiences.

Thanks, Pamela! Yes, we caught the culprits quickly - a funny story I'll write in a blog one day soon. As for the double-dipping, thanks for your encouragement. I have the years to retire now, but I love teaching, and I'm not ready to quit. I'm hoping to find a college position because I would love to work with young teachers. Until that happens, I'll stay where I am because it's a great school with outstanding students. I thoroughly enjoy it.

Luckily, I am in a school today, Theresa, where this would never happen! It is so sad when kids behave this way, but I still believe that such behavior is found in only a small percentage of students.

Unbelievable! Did they ever catch the culprits Edie?

Ps....Have you ever given any thought to double dipping once you have enough years? I am telling you, if you find the right school, you would love it!!!

I read VKT's story too.

I shouldn't be shocked by your story, but I am. As teachers, we all try to instill these lessons of justice and fairness and kindness. Stories like this make me feel like it falls on deaf ears.

All my stories about subbing, and waiting for someone to unlock the doors, and this is why. Students steal. They've stolen smartboards to use at flatscreen TVs. I know I wasn't poor, but I never would've considered doing something like this when I was a student.
