I learned how to become a better teacher by watching, listening, and questioning other teachers for over thirty years. Now that I am retired, it's my turn to pass on my strategies, philosophies, successes, and failures to others who may learn from my experiences.

Amen, Theresa! I don't know about you, but I have always found that kids respond better when we encourage them instead of pointing out all of their flaws. Thank goodness I don't have to sit back and listen to someone criticize me!

"We have to be careful when we talk to students. We, indeed, have the power to inspire students, but we also have the power to crush their spirit. Sometimes it’s much easier to chastise than it is to motivate."

Well-said. I agree that our generation has put them in this mess. And I want to add that it's going to be this next generation to pull us out of it. And their kids will be graduating high school when I'm old. We'd better get them ready or we're in real trouble!
